How old before we can do Hung Gar?
This would depend on our individual desires and mental development. We have students as young as 4 years old.
Why do we combine the adults with the kids?
We might be doing the same thing but we all learn at our own pace.
What are the 3 T’s to stretching?
They are temperature, tension, and time. We must do warm-up exercises first to increase body temperature. During the warmer days of summer, your muscles tend to be more relaxed.
Why do we have to do stretching?
This is to increase our flexibility and to avoid injuries due to quick actions.
Why do we have to do horse stances?
Horse stance is the fundamental exercise that builds up strength, power, accuracy and balance.
Why should we do Hung Gar?
Hung Gar is one of the 5 family styles from the monks of the Shaolin Temple. Grandmaster Winchell PC Woo is as close to the source as we can get. We can do any physical exercises. But, only martial arts offers us the unity of the body, mind, and spirit.
How long does it take to get our black belts?
Traditionally, there is no belt in Hung Gar. We should be humble enough to know it takes a lifetime of training. It would normally take 3 years to get the equivalent of a black belt.
What happens if we already have a black belt from another style?
As long as the rooting system of a tree is strong, we can transplant it and it will thrive. All skills should be universal and transferrable.
