Similar to the first day of school, it can create a tremendous amount of stress and confusion for someone who has never been exposed to martial arts. But, similar to learning how to swim, the “newbie” must get wet first.
Instead of sitting on the visitor chair and watching the class, a prospective student is expected to participate. The student should be doing instead of watching. Wear comfortable workout attire. Have the mindset of learning something new and exciting. Finish the class knowing that you are a better person.
Each class starts with warm-up and stretches. The warm-up exercises are jumping jacks, push ups, and sit ups. The stretches start from the head down to the ankles.
Then, the students recite the 10 rules.
The drills start with ready and set positions. The fundamentals are the horse stance and front punch.
Each class finishes by saying “Hung Gar Kung Fu” and by clapping your hands 3 times.
